A proper chain of custody will require three testimonials. One is the piece of evidence in what it signifies; the second is the continuous possessions of each, the time they seized it until the time they presented it, and the third is testimony by each who has had the possession of that particular evidence. The chain of custody (COC) certification involves tracking the materials from forests that are certified to process and distribute.
Suppose a client wants a flooring in their house and they have chosen the hardwood strip flooring. Two of the companies that supply such type of hardwood for flooring are Shamrock Plank Flooring and Borthwick & Son Floors. However, one of the company has green-washed their product.
Lesson 5 Discussion
A company that green washes their product are deceiving the users in that their products, aims and policies are environmentally friendly. Therefore, any company that advertises that its products are greenwashed are dishonest. When one company uses the greenwashing term in their product and gets away with it, then the other companies will follow the lead and the market will be filled illusions of environmental sustainability.
Firms are using different marketing strategies in greenwashing their products. One of the ways is being transparent, by providing the details of their products and report their progress actively. Another strategy is to enlist the support of third parties such as eco-labels, environmental products declarations and cause marketing.
